DNC Now Attempting to Silence Gun Owners

URGENT: I got a response back already.  Do not use their e-mailers, as they send attachments along that do contain Obama’s legal threat, along with all the material from FactCheck.org and various other sources.  They do send your content, but you don’t want the baggage that goes along with it.

The Democratic National Committee is now taking up a petition to get NRA’s ads off the air.  I have filled in my information so you don’t have to:

Dear Sir or Madam,

Please stop broadcasting the misleading and phony NRA attack ad against Barack Obama on your stations.

Time and again, Barack Obama has defended the right to bear arms created by the Constitution. However, this shameful ad misrepresents Barack’s position on illegal guns and tries to scare voters with incorrect information about his stance on the issue.

This NRA ad is a lie, and is not fit for public broadcast.

The public airwaves are no place for this kind of hateful and misleading trash. I hope you will stop broadcasting this deceptive ad on your station and prevent the level of discourse to be lowered by the lies it presents.

Please take this ad off the air at once.

Will the blue dogs in the party condemn this action?  Or will they stand by and take it from Obama?  If they want gun owner support, this isn’t how to go about it.  I will say that at least the DNC didn’t threaten their broadcast licenses.  Since they allow editing, I have taken their form and translated it to this:

Please do not give into intimidation and threats from the Democratic Party and the Obama campaign to cease running NRA’s ads.  As an independent voter, a gun owner, sport shooter, and an NRA member, I find it offensive that the Democratic Party has chosen to attempt to silence my views.  Please keep running the ads by the National Rifle Association.  They speak for me, and many other gun owners who will not be voting for Barack Obama this coming November.

Dividing Coal Miners?

The AFL-CIO is taking NRA to task for trying to divide good working coal miners from Barack Obama.  One wonders what AFL-CIO’s position is on Joe Biden talking out of both sides of his mouth about clean coal.  When the chips are down, do the United Mine Workers really believe Obama will stand with them over the environmental lobby?  If they do, I have a bank in New York to sell them.

A Quick Unscientific Sampling

On the way in from work, spotting on people’s lawns in the Fort Washington/Blue Bell area of Montgomery County, PA:

  • 1 Obama Sign
  • 5 McCain Signs
  • 1 Allyson Schwartz Sign (Democrat Incumbent Congresscritter)
  • 3 Kate Harper signs (Repub. State Rep)

Based on signage, things are looking good for McCain at least in some parts of the Philadelphia suburbs.  Based on signage in general, I think McCain has the edge, and that’s a good sign of where the passion is, even if it’s not scientific.

Obama Silencing Voice of Gun Owners

Barack Obama’s campaign is trying to silence the National Rifle Association’s latest ad campaign using strong arm tactics by threatening them with possible legal action if they run the ads:

Failure to prevent the airing of “false and misleading advertising” may be “probative of an underlying abdication of licensee responsibility” Cosmopolitan Broad. Corp v. FCC, 581 F.2d 917, 927 (D.C. Cir. 1978).

So basically, stop running NRA’s ads, or your broadcast license could be in jeopardy.  They detail the WaPo’s FactCheck.org repetition as proof.  This is Chicago politics at its finest folks.  If you can’t win fair, win dirty.  This is not how a free society is supposed to function.  This is not the kind of man I want leading my country.

Besides, every bit of what NRA claimed is true.  It’s the Obama campaign and the news media that’s lying.

McCain Suspends Campaigning

McCain is apparently taking time off the campaign trail to focus on the financial crisis:

We must meet as Americans, not as Democrats or Republicans, and we must meet until this crisis is resolved.I am directing my campaign to work with the Obama campaign and the commission on presidential debates to delay Friday night’s debate until we have taken action to address this crisis.

It’s actually a pretty bold manuver.  If Obama stays in the field, he looks like someone who is unserious and more concerned about winning his election than he is about doing his job as a Senator in a major economic crisis.  If he goes back to Washington with McCain, he has to take time off fundraising.  McCain’s campaign is on welfare for politicians public financing right now, so he’s not able to legally raise funds currently.  If Obama comes in from the field it hurts his campaign financially.  Either way, Obama comes out the loser on this.

Guilty Plea For Gun Buying Mom

A mother who bought her kid a 9mm carbine has plead guilty:

The mother who bought an assault rifle for her teenage son who was plotting a Columbine-style attack at his high school pleaded guilty yesterday to endangering the welfare of children.

I’m going to guess they didn’t pursue weapons charges, since it’s not actually illegal to buy a rifle for your kid as long as it remains in your possession and control.  It would be tough to prove that the firearm was actually transferred to the juvenile.  Of course, it seems to be this woman wasn’t buying her kid a gun to teach him responsibile gun use, and his dad seems to have been charged with weapons violations himself, and was a prohibited person.  No good was going to come from this situation.

In my continuing series of exposing the criminal records of infamous Philadelphia criminals, I present you with the criminal record of Philadelphia’s latest cop killer, Daniel Giddings.  Daniel Giddings was responsible for the murder of Philadelphia Police Officer Patrick McDonald this past Tuesday.  Giddings was killed when police returned fire.

Giddings record compared with those of other cop killers in Philadelphia is not as extensive, and only includes one arrest for aggravated assault and weapons charges that was Nolle Prossed (which means charges weren’t pursued).  Six months after that, he’s picked up on similar charges.  While awaiting trial, it would appear he was picked up on aggravated assault once again, and charges were withdrawn.  In 2000, he’s finally confined to prison for a six to twelve year sentence.  I would appear that he served eight, rather than the maximum he pretty clearly deserved.

But Daniel Giddings will be commiting no more crimes thanks to the Philadelphia Police.  But it’s a tragedy we had to lose an officer in the process.
