Palm Pistol Prototype

Ed Friedman of NRA’s Shooting Illustrated magazine has the scoop on the prototype Palm Pistol. It’s all black, so clearly it’s evil and must be banned immediately. And it’ll have rail? Seriously?

Grip Panels for a 22/45

I noticed this very nice customization of a Ruger Mk.III 22/45 over at Tam‘s. I shoot Silhouette with my 22/45, and like everything about it except the grip. The angle isn’t the problem so much as my hands are too big for the puny grip. I beefed it up a bit with a houge rubber sleeve, but that doesn’t work as nicely. I like the idea of being able to put real wood grips on it.

How Brownell’s Tests Magazines

Fun video from Brownells about their magazine testing. The closed captioning is funny. But I have to wonder how many M16/M4 barrels and gas tubes they end up melting:

These are the civilians magazines they sell being tested. I’m told the actual military magazines are very tightly controlled from factory through deployment. But rumor has it a few of the tan follower military mags have appeared in the wild, which were absconded from military bases. I wouldn’t suggest buying one, because I’m pretty sure it’s some kind of felony or another to buy stolen federal property.

Photoblog: Fort Washington

Bitter and I made a last minute trip down to DC this weekend to see two of her friends from college. One is a lobbyist on the hill who we always see when we’re down in DC. The other was in from Minnesota, who Bitter hasn’t seen in a number of years. But as long as we were down there, I decided to do some sightseeing. I’ve always wanted to visit Fort Washington, which was one of the main fortifications that protected the U.S. Capital from attack by water for most of this nation’s history. Built first in 1809, it was in use as a fort to protect the Capital well into the 20th century. I decided to do a photoblog on it. I used to do these somewhat often, but they take a lot of time to put together, so I kind of stopped. But I figured since I got a lot of good gun pics, folks wouldn’t mind too much. I like old artillery pieces, and they keep the ones at Fort Washington in good shape. Click on the pictures for more information.

Palm Pistol in 3D

Matt Carmel, proprietor of Constitution Arms, maker of the Palm Pistol, which will be forever remembered as the gun that was almost an FDA approved medical device for disabled people, have developed a 3D model of their Palm Pistol, and they’ve given me permission to post it here. You will need to use Adobe Reader to view it, as third party PDF readers don’t seem to work. Adobe Acrobat lets you hide parts clicked on, so you can strip away some of the outer shell and see what’s inside it. Neat! I didn’t even know Acrobat could display 3D models. It looks really nice when viewed up close.

Jersey Legal AR

We would like to welcome Cemetery to the club, though we would seriously advise against trying to devise a black powder .223 load. I’d also note you can get 10 round Jersey legal magazines you can actually grab on to. Basically a blocked 20 rounder, which ought to be legal in the Garden State.

Crosman Enters the PCP Air Pistol Market

The one thing I can’t stand about Crosman air pistols is the trigger. The other thing I can’t stand is how poorly the CO2 is regulated. This product seems to fix at least one of those things. I’ll probably get one, just because they are so cheap. Unfortunately they are not so cheap that they can be used for IHMSA Production Class, but I’m of the opinion that the IHMSA governing body needs to consider upping the price for production class.
