Reasoned DiscourseTM

After looking over the comments at Robb’s blog, I have come to the conclusion that this guy is an angry person who is unwilling to engage in any kind of reasonable dialog with people who disagree with him. If you can’t make your argument without insulting other people, how do you expect anyone else to take your argument seriously? Enjoy your echo chamber.

Seems I’ve Inserted Myself Into Idaho Blogotics

You know, it’s funny, as someone who supports gay marriage, thinks abortion ought to remain legal, and has little problem with profanity or other such vulgarities, I still feel I could have a more reasonable discussion with Clayton Cramer on the issues than I could with progressive Idaho bloggers it seems.

At some point, you guys need to learn that just because you disagree with someone on some topics, that doesn’t mean the proper response is to fling poo. I’d like to think that we’ve evolved beyond that particular trait of certain other primates. If you disagree with Clayton, then explain to me why you are correct, and he is wrong. If you can’t, then don’t expect me to take you seriously.

I generally don’t accentuate the areas where I disagree with Clayton Cramer on, because I’m a gun blogger, and on that particular topic, we’re pretty much in agreement. But I wouldn’t be taking time to criticize Idaho Progressives if I didn’t think their criticism, if it can even be called that, had gone so far off the deep end as to be almost comical.

Oh, and, by the way, my blog dashboard highlights my Technorati links. Believe me, I have better things to do than go searching for what Idaho Progressives are saying about me. I’m pretty sure Clayton does too.

Quote of the Day

We want sensible gun laws.  You don’t hunt with M-16s. You blow holes in tanks with those weapons. They were built just to kill people. – Jesse Jackson

You’d have a hard time blowing a hole through much of anything with an M-16, much less a tank.  Besides, M-16s are already heavily restricted, and my AR-15, which is not an M-16 but looks like one, hasn’t killed anything.   Damned thing must be defective!  Jackson is a world class horses ass; always has been as long as I’ve been alive and able to pay attention.   This it just the latest proof.

The Fawning Audience

To anyone who cheered Joe Biden’s verbally pooping all over gun owners, answer me this:

What is the difference between someone calling a really sweet classic car “his baby” and someone calling his rifle the same thing?  Both are items that people in each respective hobby get a lot of enjoyment out of.  Both items require a lot of investment in money, care, and time to maintain and keep in good working order.  So what makes one person normal and the other mentally deranged?

I suppose it’s because you all fancy yourselves sophisticated, and above that kind of apish and uncivilized behavor, which is why you can all bite me.

Michael “Snuffy” Pfleger Reprimanded

Looks like Snuffy got a reprimand from the Cardinal.

Cardinal Francis George has taken an unusual step: Reprimanding an activist priest, the Rev. Michael Pfleger, for comments he made at a recent anti-gun rally in Riverdale.

It’s the latest episode in longstanding tensions between George and Pfleger, who have clashed over everything from doctrine to politics.

“I thought things were getting better,” Pfleger said Thursday.

“Publicly delivering a threat against anyone’s life betrays the civil order and is morally outrageous, especially if this threat came from a priest,” George said in his statement.

I couldn’t agree more.  Sounds like Snuffy and the Cardinal have long standing issues.  I can’t imagine why.

German Police Funtime

I’ve never really felt a desire to be a German cop until now:

I had no current plans to go back and visit Germany any time soon, but if they added a tour where I could beat up rock throwing hippies, I’d be all for it. Notice the rock falling from his hands.

We don’t condone police brutality here at Snowflakes in Hell, but you have to admit, there just something about this crowd of freaks that makes you want to strap on riot gear and start swinging!

What is Meant by Snuff?

Eugene Volokh thinks that he probably was meaning to say run out of business.  I think it would have had to be a pretty poor choice of words in that instance.   I think it’s quite likely the Reverend didn’t intend people to literally go in and drag him out into the streets and kill him, and I think he’d probably have a pretty good defense against any charges.  But I do think he was alluding to violence in his speech.

This rhetoric is irresponsible, insulting and reprehensible for utterance by a public figure and supposed man of the cloth.  Sadly, we have people like this on our side too.
