No wonder Hick is treating him like he’s got cooties. I think the only gun control leader who thinks Colorado was a win is Mike Bloomberg. If you can’t protect people who take hard votes, your ideas aren’t going to find much traction.
Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper suggests national gun-control groups stay away from a looming recall battle that could switch control of the state Senate to the GOP. The groups poured money into an unsuccessful defense of two state lawmakers recalled over their gun votes earlier this year.
I don’t know what Hick is worried about. Didn’t Bloomberg and the Vice President promise to protect anyone who came under attack for their vote? What happened to that promise? I’m enjoying this a bit more than I should.
I know that plenty of people complain about the volume of fundraising mail from NRA all of the time. I now plan to tell those people that if they want, they can go join the anti-gun groups to see how great they have it under NRA.
In the last two days, my account for OFA to see what they are doing on gun control, has received 8 fundraising messages. That’s 4 requests for money a day.
They try using guilt, they try giving rewards, and they try creating false reporting deadlines. Oh, and don’t forget the standard messages that the world will end if you don’t give them money.
And don’t think you can get away from the demands for more money on social media since they also posted multiple times there about how it’s time for you to give them more cash.
So, yes, while I understand the annoyance of getting several fundraising letters from NRA, just imagine if they were clogging your inbox with 4 pleas for cash every single day. We’re not talking informative messages with news or links you want that just happen to have a fundraising request at the bottom, we’re talking about emails only making a fundraising request and providing no other value to the recipient whatsoever.

Whatever makes the gun control advocates sleep better at night, even after people point out that NICS is still up and active for gun purchases, they can keep lying to their followers.
Of course, Charles C. W. Cooke takes on Piers to note that this celebration of the idea that guns can’t be sold to people who pass background check seems to conflict with his claims of not being against gun ownership:

In the district where voters just sent Sen. John Morse home for not only pulling gun control to the floor, but also complaining to the media that having his constituents call his office was toxic to the process of shoving legislation down their throats, the Democrats have a new candidate who, it would appear, may have similar views on how to treat those with whom he disagrees. Oh, and it is a man who was once employed by Bloomberg to push gun control – the other big argument against Morse’s continued tenure.
As the former head of MAIG in Colorado, a candidate for Sen. Morse’s old seat seemingly developed his views on religion and Hell around how he defines your political opposition to him. Based on a quote from an email that he admits to writing in the featured interview at the link, he declared that people who support private/charter schools or vouchers have “a special place in Hell…they deserve it.”
I wonder what level of Hell he believes is reserved for gun owners?
It’s Staples. Now, let us not make the same mistake here we made with Starbucks. Staples just wants to sell office supplies. They don’t want to end up in the middle of a gun control fight, be forcibly dragged into the debate, or have people running around in their stores with long guns. I would suggest the wise strategy is to ignore this completely, and only if Staples gives into the bullies do we bring down the god hammer on them and make them realize they chose poorly. I’m not even suggesting people write letters to corporate. Starbucks was not won by the anti-gunners, it was lost by idiots on our own side.
This is a pretty decent article by Eli Saslow in the Washington Post that I would recommend everyone read. In any kind of political struggle, you have to be able to put yourself in the mind of your opponents and understand them. You can’t really easily counter your opponents tactics with your own if you don’t understand how they think, and more importantly understand what they are doing wrong. There’s a lot of lessons in here for our side, and the chief lesson is that the tactics you find emotionally satisfying are not always (really not usually) the ones that matter in terms of gaining desired political outcome. Emotional blackmail is similar to open carry in at least one way: it’s a tactic, not a strategy. Waving the bloody shirt will only get you so far.
From the sounds of this article about a Virginia gun club that needed approval to take on some construction projects, it appears as though anti-gun advocates were actually trying to end all gun owner activities rather than having any concern for actual firearms use on the range.
In July, they report that 13 people came out to oppose the club’s plans. Now, that might be expected if the club was looking to vastly expand the number and size of ranges or do something else that would greatly increase quality-of-life factors for residents around the club. But, no. They were opposing a new clubhouse, a picnic pavilion, and a driveway expansion. Opposition to those kinds of improvements is a direct opposition to gun owners meeting and organizing. That’s not about noise from a gun range or concerns over stray rounds. That’s just opposition to gun owners.
In September, the anti opposition had dropped to just one woman who appears to have made up concerns like a new clubhouse might mean that there’s a new sudden interest in trespassing, along with concerns about noises from non-gun activities.
I’m continually amazed at how so many anti-gun groups really want us to believe that they aren’t proposing going after gun owners when we see repeated assaults like this on even allowing gun owners to gather. At the national level, it’s been legislation that would effectively shut down gun shows. Here, it’s silly opposition to a freakin’ picnic pavilion.

Attention gun owners in Washington, Oregon, Nevada, New Mexico, and Minnesota: You’re likely the next targets for Bloomberg’s cash.
In Oregon, they want to target Sen. Betsy Johnson & will be trying to find Senate Republicans to break from the pack. If you live there, you need to get involved with these targets now. Don’t wait. Give them the incentive to hang up the phone when Bloomberg calls by being visible and involved right now.
For Minnesota, it sounds like they plan to hire more lobbyists to try and drown out constituents.
Nevada gun owners should make sure to step up for any lawmakers who stood against gun control, but might have had some tight races in recent years. Bloomberg is apparently going to fund some challengers. They also said they will get involved to try and keep Sen. Justin Jones if he faces recall.
In Washington, it looks like he’s going to focus on dropping money to turn out the vote on the ballot initiatives.
Their plans in New Mexico are even more vague, but it looks like they want to take aim at anyone who got in the way of gun control this session.
I didn’t realize that one of last night’s losing lawmakers in Colorado actually argued that losing even one seat was sign enough that Mayors Against Illegal Guns should just wrap it up and go out of business. Alas, she did.
If you live in area with a tempting target for Mike Bloomberg, then this is a worthy quote to share with them from a lawmaker who was promised she would be taken care of by the billionaire. The billionaire didn’t deliver. Joe Biden called these lawmakers, and not even Obama could save them in blue districts in a blue state.
The original reporter who printed the bold remarks by Sen. Giron is already in spin mode. While he said in his original article that the Bloomberg was taking the issue as seriously as Giron framed it, today’s message is that gun control voters have better things to do, like attend back to school nights for their kids. The implication, I guess, is that gun owners don’t have kids who they love enough to be involved in their education.
