Congressman Peterson’s Editorial

Go check out Congressman John Peterson’s editorial in CenterDaily, in regards to I-80 tolls.

Tolling of I-80 has little to do with solving Pennsylvania’s transportation and infrastructure problems. It has a lot to do with paying off debt and fixing problems that should have been addressed years ago.

Until, the governor and our leaders in Harrisburg find the courage and political will to take on the likes of Philadelphia’s Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority and the Turnpike Commission and start managing our transportation system properly, they will be tolling every highway in Pennsylvania.

I agree here.Â I’m not in favor of continually dumping money into SEPTA.Â SEPTA has to reform itself, and at least develop a modicum of efficiency and accountability, before I’m going to agree to dump massive amounts of state dollars into the system, no questions asked.

Right to Life Saving Drugs

This decision seems boneheaded to me.Â It would seem to me that there is a fundamental right to seek potentially life saving medical care, absent any specific enumeration in the constitution.

One more example of there being no liberty that is so sacred that it can’t be trampled on in the name of the War on Drugs.

Ambitious Growth Plans

My alma mater seems to be intent on creating a presence on the west coast.Â I was skeptical when Drexel decided to buy a medical college, and then create a law school.Â Because I think this seems like a boondoggle, the smart money is on it being radically successful.Â It’s a good rule of thumb, I think, that it’s a bad idea to bet against “Taki” Papadakis.Â I look forward to being wrong once again.

The More the Merrier

Pennsylvania is home to some really fantastic breweries, from Victory Brewing Company in Downingtown, to Pennsylvania Brewing Company in Pittsburgh, it’s a great state to live in, if you’re a beer lover.Â I’m happy to see us adding Philadelphia Brewing Company to the family of excellent Pennsylvania brewers.

Violence Policy Center Study Bunk

A few days ago I linked to a VPC study that purported to rank states by number of drive by shootings. While I linked to it in such a way as to not take it seriously, it would appear that, perhaps because they lack the funding to conduct a proper study, that VPC determined this through creative Google searching! I couldn’t make this shit up folks.

Stick a fork in them. The VPC is done.

The New Jersey State Police might be about to make you a hardened criminal, by changing the state regulations that allow for magazines to be blocked to 15 rounds.

Turning the law abiding of today into the criminal of tomorrow; It’s just the kind of gun control that Bryan Miller says has overwhelming support in New Jersey, and who is intent on bringing into the Keystone State!

Camera’s work if you listen to the Philadelphia media, but the murder rate still seems to be climbing.

The Gun Blogger Rendezvous

So I do really want to go to the gun blogger rendevous, and as of now I’m planning on it. I will make my final decision shortly. The basic hangup is the same weekend, my high school marching band is having a reunion. Right now, there isn’t enough people from my years saying they are attending yet, but I’m keeping an eye on it. If it comes down to getting the old mallet section together, along with some more friends from those years, I might be tempted away from gun blogger goodness, as I might not ever have a chance to see these folks back together in one place ever again. But right now, it’s not looking like it’s headed in that direction.

Put me down as a strong tentative, but I will know more definitely by the end of the month.

I think SayUncle has offically launched the term “Pants Shitting Hysterics” into the gun blogging vernacular, such that we now call it PSH for short.Â Â Well, Ahab has the latest example from a media type who apparently thinks that he can’t be trusted with firearms, and, possibly none of us should be either.
