PA Attorney General: Non-Resident Permit Good!

Maybe this is a response to the letter I sent!  But maybe they are getting a lot of them.   The Pennsylvania AG has clarified the residency requirements:

It has come to the attention of the Office of Attorney General that there has been confusion over the applicability of Pennsylvania’s reciprocal privileges with regard to the residency status of an individual who has been issued a valid license/permit.  It is the position of the Office of Attorney General that recognition within Pennsylvania is based on the issuance to an individual of a valid license/permit by the reciprocal contracting state, and not on the license/permit holder’s place of residence.

So there you have it folks.  If you’re a carrying on a non-resident, reciprocal permit, you’re legal.

Busy Weekend

My ex-girlfriend Joy’s graduation was today (no, I’m not that much of a pervert, she’s on the six year program, and is only a little bit younger than Bitter), so her whole family is here from Iowa, where she’s originally from.  Her parents are divorced, so her dad is staying with me here, and her other set of parents were staying with her in Philadelphia.   I’ve been doing a bit of entertaining.   Visited the Atwater Kent Museum in Philadelphia.  Took Joy’s brother shooting.  Walked the Delaware Canal towpath.   Did a few other things.

I don’t generally mind playing tour guide.

That’s Quite a lot of Ammonium Nitrate

It’s a good thing Joe has a license form the ATF, because that’s enough fertilizer to get anyone on a terrorist watch list!

Also, Joe’s daughter is smoking hot too, which makes me feel old, when I realize that she was probably not even in kindergarten when I graduated from high school :)   The one thing I really hated about turning 30 was realizing that most college chicks would think of me as an old guy.

Good thing Bitter isn’t in college anymore :)

Thugs Who Kill Cops

This is a really good read about cop killers. I think it makes sense, that ones that actually successfully kill cops are decent marksmen. Police typically wear body armor, so these guys need to make head shots, and have their tactics down.

Is the study just on cop killers or any criminals that take a shot at cops? Otherwise it doesn’t take into account the number of crooks who shoot it out with the police and end up in the morgue.

The really funny thing is, as I was reading the parts about the behaviors of criminals who are carrying weapons, I found myself thinking “Yeah, I do that too”. Of course, I use a holster, but I do find myself checking my shirt when I change positions, and probably do wear too much clothing in hot weather. I’ve never handed a weapon off to Bitter though, but she has handed one off to me :)

I guess I’ll have to add Texas Tattler to the blog roll next time I make additions, otherwise, apparently, “Catfish” will come poop on my lawn. Actually, given the current state of my lawn I could use the fertilizer.

Are You Kidding Me?

Pennsylvania has long held its primary so late as to be nearly irrelevant in national politics at the primary level. By the time Pennsylvanians get around to voting, the pool of candidates has already been largely decided by other states. That’s why this quote from the Pennsylvania Republican Chair, Robert Gleason, pisses me off to no end:

With an older electorate, do we really want to force our voters out during conditions that could jeopardize their health and safety?

Are you serious? Look, I’m already quite sick of having to constantly bend over “for the children”, and my useless contributions to the various government run pyramid schemes social security systems annoys me enough as it is in regards to our “older electorate”, but this has to take the cake. Let’s make Pennsylvania relevant! We’re the 6th largest state in the union, and I think we should count for something.

You Can’t Uninvent Technology

Once society progresses to a certain technical level, they need to learn ways to cope with its technology. In many ways, the gun control movement is a form of neo-ludditism. They imagine that the clock can be turned back, that firearms can be eliminated, and that bit of technology purged completely from our culture.

It is a fantasy and a delusion to hold such a view. Today I ran across this set of pictures of firearms that were seized by the Russian Army in Chechnya. They are all home made. The gun control movement always makes the false assumption that firearms are a highly complicated technology. They are not. They’ve been around half a millennium and aren’t going away. Take a look at the photo gallery, and next time someone tell you that banning all guns would actually eliminate them, show it to them, and make them understand how wrong they are.

No Bitter Weekend

Due to circumstances, Bitter and I aren’t seeing each other this weekend.  True to my pledge, that means I need to buy a gun to comfort myself.  Last month I sold my Romanian SKS with the intent to get a new one.  I have my eye on one of these:

The Yugoslavian SKS.  Excellent to New Condition.  w/ grenade launcher and folding bayonet.
