Obama’s Other Anti-Gun Running Mate

So the Obama/Bayh bumper stickers were a leak to distract folks. It looks like it’s Joe Biden. So, like I did with Bayh, let’s look at Biden’s record. We don’t have to go far. Remember the YouTube debates where he said a gun owner was not “mentally qualified” to own guns for simply asking a question.

  1. He takes pride in writing gun bans.
  2. He’s F-rated with NRA – the worst among almost all of the most talked about candidates.
  3. NRA highlights his recent threats to gun owners via his work on his Senate committee:

NRA has been tracking the U.N.`s gun-ban activities for well over a decade, and thanks to the Bush administration`s appointees to the U.N., the U.S. position on any global gun-ban treaty has been consistent and uncompromising: Hands off the Second Amendment rights of American citizens!

However, all that could change, now that the Senate Foreign Relations Committee–which approves or rejects our U.N. representatives and assesses international treaties for possible ratification–is chaired by anti-gun U.S. Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware.

Like Schumer, Biden is rated “F” by the NRA Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) for his countless votes against firearm freedom. Like Schumer, Biden voted to expose the lawful firearm industry to crippling lawsuits; to extend and expand the Clinton gun bans; to allow a ban on most hunting-rifle ammunition; and to deny the free-speech rights of groups like the NRA during elections.

Now, as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Biden can use his power to sabotage pro-freedom nominees for U.N. ambassador–as he did with Second Amendment defender John Bolton–and bully fellow senators into accepting whatever gun-ban treaty the U.N. concocts in the name of fighting international terrorism.

  4. Needless to say, he didn’t sign on to the Heller brief and doesn’t support efforts to reform DC’s gun laws.

Biden is bad news all around for any gun owner. Pair him with Obama, and it’s a far left gun ban ticket.

  1. I can’t really think of an advantage we get from this. Anything bad we could say about Biden we can already say about Obama.

  2. Biden kind of has a habit of sticking his foot in his mouth though, maybe he’ll say something really stupid that will scare off a lot of moderates.

  3. Many in Delaware are happy to see artless blowhard Biden running, and hope he runs as far away from us as possible.

    Na Zdravie

  4. “I am the guy who originally wrote the assault weapons ban.”

Those word are enough for every decent respecting gun owner to oppose Obama/Biden in 2008.

    Joe Biden on the Constitution:

“Just talk to me as a father – not what the Constitution says. What do you feel?”

Wow! I wonder where he is on the 5th amendment? May they go down like the Hindenburg!

  5. If Obama had picked James Webb (D-VA) I would’ve considered voting for them, but *this* VP choice sank any last chance of that.

I’m either voting Green or staying home.

  6. Obama couldn’t pick James Webb. There’s charges of sexism among the party faithful, and if he sought out a man who accused women who wanted to serve their country as having sexual dysfunction of some kind, it would only prove their point.

  7. American gun owners cannot afford another extreme left-winger, gun-hating presidential administration that Obama and Biden would bring if elected. I’m sure we’d see a whole new round of abuses from the BATFE with those two in the White House, just like there was back when the Clintons were in there. Does anybody remember the story about Harry and Theresa Lamplugh? They were targeted and raided in their own home by the BATFE just 14 years ago, simply because they were in the business of promoting gun shows in Pennsylvania and other states in the Northeast.

  8. To those considering staying home and not opposing this tandem because you do not care for McCain either, I feel your pain. But remember, the 2nd Amendment is largley a SCOTUS issue–not a POTUS issue. What is a presidential issue is the appointment of SCOTUS justices. With one or two likely to come up in the next 4-8 years, it is important that Biden and Obama aren’t making that choice.

Just a 2nd Amend. thought for those of you who are feeling aleinated by this race, and are thinking of staying home.

  9. I would like to thank DON– ,for remembering my husband+ myself-Please don’t allow what was done to us, to happen again to someone else. Stand up now while you still can + don’t ever believe it can’t happen to you!!!

  10. Theresa Lamplugh,

    You are very welcome.

I recall first reading about your ordeal in the pages of Soldier of Fortune magazine. It made me both sad and angry when I read the part about agent Donna Slusser deliberately stomping one of your cats to death. I have been around guns, cats, and dogs for all of my life, and it would pain me deeply to lose any of those three in such a senseless manner.

  11. Joe Biden thinks it is ok to send Americans to get killed for nothing in Iraq but said Americans can’t be trusted to own a gun…
