Righthaven Sues Pajamas Media

Considering Pajamas Media has among its bloggers a law professor, this seems like a bad move. Apparently PJ Media has a registered DCMA contact too.

Hat tip to Clayton Cramer.

UPDATE: More here. Any time Righthaven adds clients, I systematically go through the blog and remove links to those sources. Most of them are stale by now anyway. I encourage everyone to do this. Many of these papers are small potatoes, and we have more Google Mojo than they do. By removing the links, they will fail to show up in Google searches, which is the kiss of death for content driven sites.

  1. In typical Righthaven fashion, they are also asking for the domain pajamasmedia.com to be transferred to them. Good luck with that OR winning the suit given the DMCA registration.

I wouldn’t be surprised if an “oopsie” withdrawal of the complaint is filed by Righthaven. It would be the smart thing to do.

  2. Small papers don’t live on Google traffic anyway, is my impression

They live (to the extent they don’t just go bankrupt or live off of their paper sales) off being the source for local news for their area/city.
