Just as an FYI – I’ve updated the post with more names that are popping up and specifics on how the parties will choose the candidates who run in the special election.
It’s rather funny that the decision for Republicans is made completely at the local level. Party leaders from each county in the district go to vote together. For the Democrats, the local leaders may make a recommendation to the full, statewide party leaders. However, it’s the state organization that actually picks the candidate.
