Compare and Contrast

This kind of crap freaks me the hell out.

UPDATE: Wretchard notices too.  In the past it’s always been our country or our traditions that’s inspired us to song.  This was to be a nation of laws, not of men.  I can’t imagine any politician on the American scene inspiring me to song, and the fact that Barack Obama is having this effect on people is nearly enough to make me pray for his defeat.

UPDATE: Jim Lindgren says:

My first thought was that neither Obama nor his staff is responsible for this video, nor would Obama recommend such devotional singing. My second thought was that – as creepy and inappropriate as this singing is – it’s not as bad as what Obama is actually proposing: forcing all children, starting at the age of 11, to give 50 hours a year of child labor working in their communities at the direction of the federal government. When Obama himself crosses the line, it’s not surprising that some of his supporters do as well.

Here here.

  1. It is kind of creepy in my opinion and it’s not the kind of things I would let my kids participate in, however since it was not government sponsored and apparently had parental approval (it looked like they were in the audience to me) I don’t have a real problem with it.

  2. What are all those moonbatty parents going to tell their little darlings when Barry-boy Obama loses in a landslide to McCain? That a bunch of racist ol’ meanies all got together and cheated him out of enough votes to become president?

  3. Reminds me of that song I learned as a naive kid in church, worshipping a different messiah:

“He’s got the whole world, in his hands, he’s got the whole world in his hands.”

    Jesus Christ (!)

  4. Hey! Where’s the kid with the red scarf waving a hammer and sickle?

Man this crap is scary- all we need now is a 12 year old with a bullhorn informing on his parents! VERBOTEN!!

  5. I don’t think those historical tunes quite have the Hitlerjunge feel of this song of praise and adoration. There’s a difference between a catchy tune to help people remember your candidate and singing the praises of Dear Leader.

  6. The lady who originally posted to Youtube this professionally-produced, yet still “grassroots” video of all these pro-Obama singing kids has apparently disabled the viewer comments section for it. Since there were quite a few critical comments there already, I guess she got tired of having to defend her values and motives for using children for political propaganda purposes.

  7. I came late to this party, having worked out-of-town (away from my comp) all week. I note that the kids-singing-for-Obama video has been removed.

Also, a grammatical nit-pick: I believe when you want to agree with a position or statement, the phrase is, “Hear, hear”
