Next Moves

I hold out the possibility that someone in the Administration put forward this brief without the President’s knowledge.  If that is the case, I want to see people in the Solicitor General’s office, who have their name on this brief, getting sacked.  Chief Council for ATF was the person who wrote the brief.  Did Michael Sullivan know about it or not?  He’s ultimately responsible for what happens at ATF, regardless.  Will President Bush withdraw his nomination?

The next few days will show whether Bush has indeed decided to abandon the second amendment, and throw America’s gun owners off his ship of state.  If this was done without his knowledge, and if he wishes to repudiate this action, heads must roll now.

  1. I have thought the same, but I think it is because I can’t emotionally process such a betrayal by any president of his country.

Intellectually I have no hope of his repudiating the brief or its authors simply because no one would take such an important politically destructive and public step without his imprimatur. Nor could it have happened behind his back without one of his loyalists informing him what was afoot, thus allowing him to put a stop to it before the public ever knew.

But trust me, I understand your hope. I share it. I also realize I am being unrealistic. ‘S abitch, aint it?

  2. Well, bush has 376 days and a wake-up as president; and despite the extreme BDS sufferers nightmares, he’s leaving office on the 20th of January, 2009.

Wonder if this was supposed to slip under the radar on a friday afternoon? If so, I suspect the political ninjas are going to be sorely disappointed. Preferably dis-appointed, too – but I hold little hope for that.

The worst part is; even with access to a time machine I wouldn’t go back and change my vote for president. I’d just bitch about it more.

If you don’t vote, you let one more voter from the other side count his vote.

    Dammit
