I’m heading to the NRA range tomorrow in Fairfax, probably in the morning when they open at 10AM.  I’ve never shot there, so figured I’d check it out. I need to work on my single handed shooting anyway.

You’ll enjoy it. Nicest indoor facility on the East Coast. You’ll have to do a safety test (all open book) before they’ll let you shoot there. No big deal. They are safety oriented but the RSOs are generally stern but friendly. As long as you don’t do bonehead stuff, they let you shoot like an adult (unlike Maryland indoor ranges that treat you like a dangerous child).
The NRA Range has spoiled me. It is very open, friendly and clean. More restrictive ranges seem fascist by comparison which is why I generally only shoot at NRA or Quantico.

It really is the nicest public indoor range I’ve ever used. The only nicer indoor range I’ve been to is at West Point; however the NRA range in Fairfax is one of the few things I miss about the DC/Metro area.
