Gun Owning Parents Targeted

Apparently, one New York lawmaker is horrified that 11-year-olds might possibly see guns safely displayed and purchased by law-abiding citizens. So she wants to ban that.

She obviously believes that gun owners with kids cannot be trusted since they might possibly pass on that tradition of firearms ownership. To respond to this “threat” that gun ownership may still happen in the next generation, she’s trying to make introducing your children to safe and lawful use of firearms a crime one step at a time.

  1. Yeah. Because making something illegal and taboo to children prevents them from doing/using/thinking about it. That worked so well with sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll. ;)

    1. When I was a young kid in the early 1950s, a parent could still take their kid in a bar and order a beer for them. The bar couldn’t serve them, but the parent could.

We see what happened to that.

And according to popular lore, we’re the generation that invented sex and drugs. Now you see why!

(And actually rock n’ roll was just starting then. I am sobered by the thought than mine will be the last generation that will be able to remember a time before rock n’ roll!) (Pop music sucked — I can remember!)

        1. No, I think pop music is worse today. Better recorded though.

As for Linda Rosenthal. she’s just another elitist Fascist cradle to grave authoritarian.

  2. Closer and closer, you statist gun grabbers! Soon we will give up any hope of persuading you that we aren’t the threat, and live up to your expectations– and then some!

  3. You know, it’s funny. I think the more and more stupid laws that these idiots throw out and try to pass, the more they drive the folks who were straddling the fence into becoming gun owners because they see them for what they are.

    1. I agree, and as I think I’ve seen on this blog a time or two, never interrupt your enemy when they are making a mistake.

      1. I agree with Chris and John. The folks that are in the middle of the bell curve and think that Obama et. al. have no intentions on banning guns, other than those scary evil assault rifles, are starting to see the pro-freedom side of things.

Hopefully, this will bring about an end to taxes arbitrarily placed on our rights much the same way that poll taxes and other disgusting attempts to limit rights have ended.

        Matt R.

  4. Your take (or was it Sebastian’s) on the war against our culture was spot on. That’s what it really comes down to in the end. Yes, many of them are interested in banning firearms, but what they despise the most is the culture that gives rise to the enjoyment of firearms. In their eyes, we are nothing more than savage brutes.

    1. Meanwhile, these same elected officials readily accept money from the industries that glorify gun use…Hollywood and the gaming industry.

  5. 11-year-olds? My daughter has been attending gun shows with me and her grandpa since she was 6 months old…

  6. I am disgusted at the level of hypocrisy these liberal politicians have, when it comes to what they deem is right!
I thank god I don’t leave in Nanny state of New York,do these people honestly have no common sense?

    1. These days, sense is no longer “in common use”, and thus is not protected by the Bill of Rights.

  7. Hey, I’m as annoyed by strollers in a crowded show as anyone, but I don’t think there needs to be a law.

  8. “Alpha children wear grey. They work much harder than we do, because they’re so frightfully clever. I’m really awfully glad I’m a Beta, because I don’t work so hard. And then we are much better than the Gammas and Deltas. Gammas are stupid. They all wear green, and Delta children wear khaki. Oh no, I don’t want to play with Delta children. And Epsilons are still worse. They’re too stupid to be able …”
The Director pushed back the switch. The voice was silent. Only its thin ghost continued to mutter from beneath the eighty pillows.
“They’ll have that repeated forty or fifty times more before they wake; then again on Thursday, and again on Saturday. A hundred and twenty times three times a week for thirty months. After which they go on to a more advanced lesson.”

Parents that take their children to gunshows might teach their children that firearms are commonplace, legally avilable, and can be used safely and responsibly. The statists want to fill our children’s mind with their paradigm, not ours. Get `em as tots and you’ve got them as adults.

  9. Sex education without parental notification or permission? Absolutely. Attending a gun show with parental permission and supervision? Crazy.

Liberals have no problem with an 11 year old getting an incurable sexually transmitted disease that might cripple them, cause brain damage, or sterilize them – that’s empowering! But exercising civil rights is verboten.

    1. Sex education nothing. This is the same political party that demands children be given access to abortion without parental notice or consent!

Now, I don’t want to start that flamewar on someone else’s blog, so without going into the merits and flaws of the pro-/anti- debate… Can we just agree that you’ve got some fracked up priorities if you want to bbar parents from taking their children shopping but want to ensure those children can decide to have a surgical procedure performed on them without their parents!?

  10. Just two short years ago I went to a gun show in CO. My 8 y/o daughter came with me. They wouldn’t let me in with loaded magazines, so the guy let my daughter hold the bullets in her pocket for me so I wouldn’t have to go back to the truck.

How quickly things change when they attack our culture.

  11. We need to keep pushing the “attack on our community” angle. Which it is.

  12. I WANT TO PURPOSE A LAW THAT WILL PREVENT STUPID PEOPLE FROM BEING IN POLITICS. (DO I GET ANY VOTES)

    1. Um… Being stupid is basically a requirement to being in Politics.

Think about it, these people are so narcissistic that they stand up in front of millions of people and say straight to their faces “I can make your life better”. People that self deluded are not 100% mentally healthy in the first place.

  13. I just introduced a bill to prohibit any liberals from buying, owning, using, keeping, or bearing any firearms whatsoever since they have proven they are basically retarded.

    1. I’m going with Oakenheart. Besides, why would you want to insult President “toss him out the airlock” Roslin by comparing her to the representative from The Nanny Diaries?

    2. Damn!!! She does. I love BSG. Roslin was a good president, but she did have an “authoritarian side” when it came to some things. Still, much better than all of these statists.

  14. The Rosenthals of the world totally dominate politics in NYC. Not surprising to see that she represents the Upper West Side–a constituency of VERY WEALTH liberals who think they know better than everyone else.

They are doing everything they can to make sure gun ownership is not passed on to younger generations. I think the whole point of the AWB is to make it so young people can’t get the AR-type rifles they see in military films and video games. We need to fight them every step of the way.

Introducing more people to the shooting sports is the absolute best way to counter them.

  15. Wait until they try to make “Guns in the Home” a Charge for Child Abuse.

  16. Just one question: How does she feel about the Boy Scouts and the riflery merit badge?
Scouts may be as young as 10 when they attend camp and *gasp* get exposed to the .22 and shotgun on the range.

  17. This is reveals the liberal agenda on clear display. Gun shows bad, teaching kindergartners about deviant lifestyles good.

  18. It’s *impossible* to vote your way out from under control freaks like Rosenthal.

So why waste your time voting?
