Progress in New York City

Joe reports Bloomberg has eased New York City’s gun laws somewhat. He’s not doing this out of the kindness of his heart. He knows New York is next after Chicago. I would love to watch the look on his face as he signs this stuff into law.

Four years ago it took me six months to get my NYC pistol permit (premise), and my wife got hers two years ago in less than four. Recently people at our range are getting theirs in two months. That is actually pretty fast compares to the rest of New York State. Still, NYC has the 90-day waiting period between every firearmu purchase, and the real killer, purchase authorization requests are taking up to THREE months for approval. One can only register two handguns a year in NYC at best. I wonder if those issues can be addressed by law suits as well.

Instead of assigning less-than-honorable motives to Bloomberg’s position, that he’s doing some kind of politically savvy maneuver, I’d say this is nothing more than a clarification of what his position has been all along and you guys have had him all wrong. Well, maybe not ALL wrong, but I don’t think he’s the “enemy” that you often say he is.
