  1. The driver should file criminal charges for criminal threat and assault.

If you or I acted as this officer did, we’d be in jail, and rightly so. There is no separate set of rules for officers, or at least there should not be.

    Fire him.

  2. Jefferson was right: ‘about every twenty years.’ He was also right when he wrote “… and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. …”

This begs the question: What can We the People actually DO about it?

  3. SidViscous Said,

“Have they even dropped the charges against the driver yet?”

    No, they haven’t.

“Bartlett is contesting the charges against him: Stopping in the roadway and a carrying a concealed weapon charge that accuses him of failing to properly notify the officer he had the gun.

A jury trial in the case has been scheduled for early October in Canton Municipal Court.”

  4. He’s being disciplined. That means he is being flogged around the fleet, tarred, feathered, and run out of town on a fence rail. Right?

  5. The discipline hearing may, and I think should, result in a firing.

Yes, as one of the commenters keeps saying, a LEO`s job is hard and stressful. That may explain why the officer, intent on the passengers, kept telling the driver to shut up. But his reaction when he finally listened was unacceptable – a single expletive would be OK by me, but to go on for so long and make threats…

The prosecution charges against the driver still include failure to notify in a timely manner – if that one actually goes to a jury, and the video[s] make it into evidence, the prosecutor`s department is staffed by idiots. And without failure to notify, his having the weapon was legal. Leaving stopping/parking in the street instead of pulling to the curb – at 2AM, when stopped by police?

  6. So the moral of this story is, anyone who spends a dime in Canton, Ohio is out of their freakin minds. Never, ever go there.

  7. Markie Marxist sez: “Some animals are more equal than others. That’s equality under the law. Of course, our Marxist/warrior/hero/government agents are far more equal than most people. That’s how they’re equal.”

  8. Yep, the officer will probably get off with a simple slap on the wrist and likely even keep his job. The “Thin Blue Line” used to be good honest LEOs protecting civilized society from the chaos of crime. Now its LEOs (of various stages of corruption) standing together to protect LEOs from civilized society.

  9. I can not beleive that their needs to be a trail after the web cam. the guy in the car was clearly trying to tell the cop that he had a CCW license but was told to shut up over & over. The cop wanted to hear nothing this guy had to say. It should be charges placed on this officer for his performance and this is not the first time. Yes they have to protect themselves but their is a better way, all officers do not act this way. He is going to kill someone and that will be ok I guess. And when is it appropriate for anyone to curse you and tell you that they should put 10 bullets in you and will be able to call it justifiable and that his partner will back him up. I have a CCW license and I pray to God that If I should ever get stop for some reason that it is not by this officer. Football players can not hit hard anymore but the City Of Canton is giving this fool a license to KILL!!!! ( Imagine that )
