San Francisco Backs Down

This isn’t the huge victory NRA is making it out to be. Precedent is well-established, and San Francisco City Council has already achieved their primary objective:

Win a Second Amendment case, or the case against Cuomo, and make him pay personally, I’ll be a lot more impressed. Speaking of the Supreme Court, it was always my impression that the person who had the relationship with Paul Clement was Chris. Are we going to use Clement in any upcoming case? I hope NRA still has access to him. But in this day of Bill Brewer being NRA’s everything attorney, I won’t be surprised if it’s not Clement up there arguing for us.

  1. SF’s resolution made me think of that old cliche’ that “one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter.” I don’t think there has been a war or armed conflict in history where both sides called their opponents vile sons-of-bitches for doing exactly what they were doing themselves.

It’s sad to think that things descend to, whoever is most successful with name-calling and thereby applying economic pressure. I’m remembering the campaign to boycott apartheid South Africa back in the ’80s, and the contemporary campaigns to boycott Israel.

    1. It’s such a joke in comparing Israel to Apartheid South Africa…….The Islamic World should be compared to Apartheid South Africa.

Republicans are to stupid to retort by saying: “Try being a Non-Muslim in a Muslim-Majority Country”.

      1. “Republicans are to stupid to retort. . .”

Actually every possible retort by both sides has been exhausted, to no effect. Which is why economic coercion is being resorted to.

I hope I don’t sound like I’m arguing for either side. I like to style myself as a student of tactics, and like an anthropologist studying “cultures”, I have my own morals and principles, but I try not to apply them to my observations on tactics, because to do so obfuscates one’s judgment of the efficacy of those tactics.

Admittedly, I fall apart on that when I feel I’ve been used by someone else’s tactics, but I’m aware of that and I do my best.

  2. No it’s not. Because the council is just trying to not lose, which they will. The NRA isn’t giving up, so they can ensure this doesn’t happen again. This is more important than you make it out to be, because it could put a huge chilling effect on people and organizations.

  3. The San Francisco action was a huge escalation in the Kulturkampf. I worry we might be seeing the beginning of a Bleeding Kansas phase of the Cold Civil War.
