Ready for the Debate

I have pre-mixed some Manhattans and put them in the freezer for the Vice Presidential debate tonight. Gotta crack out the hard stuff for Crazy Joe. This is kind of like watching race car driving. Ordinarily watching a bunch of guys drive cars around in a circle, to me at least, is about as exciting as watch the grass grow. But there might be a wreck, and that is exciting. When Joe Biden is involved, there’s a pretty high likelihood there’s going to be a wreck.

    1. Oh, feel free to remind Sebastian of this – often. :) I actually told my mom to start replacing all bourbon with rye after I took my first taste of it. Everyone in the family agrees that recipes improved with that change. Even though I’m willing to drink cheap bourbon for rye, I really don’t like it. The flavors in rye are so worth the extra cost.

      1. I wouldn’t go so far as to replace all the bourbon with rye as I really prefer bourbon. However, there is a big difference between using Jim Beam or a lesser bourbon and using Maker’s Mark/Woodford Reserve/Bulleitt, etc.

Remember – your cocktail is only as good as the ingredients!

        1. In my liver busting experience I have always found better bourbon decreases the extent of ones hangover. So, on a work night, better to drink the quality stuff.

But I prefer mine 3 fingers deep in 4 solid cubes of ice.

  1. I was interested to see that Biden made the “who’s going to appoint the next two SCOTUS justices?” argument, but on the issue of abortion.

Quick thoughts: There are more women than gun owners, even counting women who are gun owners. Who is going to find the SCOTUS argument more compelling? And which way will the majority of women who are gun owners swing?

    1. When Obama took office, wasn’t it 7/9 justices appointed by Republicans? It is not like Roe v. Wade was overturned then.

    2. Rational, I suppose not low information women know Roe v. Wade et. al. is in no danger. Rational, lower information I suspect gun owners know Federal judicial support of the RKBA hangs by a thread … to the extent it really exists.

The latter is the big problem with this argument, I for one am entirely unconvinced we’re going to see much change on the ground due to this in the foreseeable future, we’re way before a Brown v. Board of Education. I suspect I’m not alone.

  2. The dumbest Vice President in history. Astonishing number of fabrications, and outright lies, not least about his own voting history.

  3. Stared to watch it, but since Raddetz decided that it should be a 2-1 Fight against Ryan, I could only last a few minutes.

But next up is a “Town Hall” Debate between Romney and Obama. Excuse me. Make that a Debate between Romney and Obama, SEIU, CodePink, the Occupyiers and any other Shouter that gets let into the Hall to attack Romney.

  4. I am always fascinated by how perceptions are subject to whose ox is being gored.
