Sanford Releases Information in Martin Shooting

I’ve been busy with other things this weekend, and haven’t been following developments in the case. But the City of Sanford has released some information they have regarding the case. Much of it you’ve probably already seen.

    In one of the initial meetings with the father of the victim the investigator related to him the account that Mr. Zimmerman provided of the incident. At that time the investigator said that Mr. Zimmerman portrayed himself to be “squeaky clean”. We are aware of the background information regarding both individuals involved in this event. We believe Mr. Martin may have misconstrued this information.

    This is an interesting statement…. What does Martin have in his background?

    1. I would suspect the reason for his suspension from school, and why he was 250 miles north of his school on a school night on a school day.

      I’ll just say I hung out with some kids who could be considered “Troubled Youth” and they never got anything outside of a bunch of after-school detentions.

      I knew of the kids who got out-of-school detentions, and if my parents caught me hanging out with them socially they would have grounded my ass, and probably searched my school bag with extreme prejudice for months.

      Pure speculation, but I’m betting that Martin was skipping class, and walking at dusk in the rain because of drugs. Martin being high would fill in a LOT of the strange blanks on why he simply didn’t run home when he saw Zimmerman taking interest in him.

        This was his father’s girlfriend’s home; I’ve gotten no impression he was very familiar with the neighborhood.

        I.e. part of the tragedy of this case could be him “acting suspiciously” by being confused while trying to backtrack from the convenience store in the night and rain. In my once and future apartment complex I always had to give precise instructions to first time visitors so they wouldn’t be driving around for a while searching for my stack of apartments. And they’ll be a bit more complicated when I move back into one that’s sort of catty-cornered from my old one.
