Republicans Delay Holder Vote

The committee vote on Eric Holder was supposed to happen today at 2:30PM, but it looks like the Republicans managed to delay the vote until he answers some of their questions.  I will keep you all up to date as to whether this source is credible.  If the committee approves Holder, his confirmation will be discharged, and voted on by the entire Senate.

UPDATE: Politico is reporting the same thing.  It seems the issue of contention is making sure he won’t prosecute intelligence agents who waterboarded suspected terrorists, rather than making sure he won’t crap all over the Constitution.  Glad to see the Republicans have their priorities straight.

  1. Holder is gonna crap all over the constitution I am afraid, and this asshat they are trying to foist off on us in Treasury??

Having a tax cheat like Tim Geithner at the head of Treasury would be akin to allowing Keith Richards to become the head of the DEA!

Maybe having Rosie O’DooDoo as head of the ATF… All of it is NOT out of the question under the Obamanation…

Isn’t the latter kinda a given?

I mean, even more so than anyone else that’s tried the position, it’s obvious that he’s not exactly the most open to a sane or libertarian viewpoint of the Constitution. I assumed it was the sort of matter that took about five minutes to cover.

  3. Uh, the republicans haven’t moved their position one bit. They’ve BEEN crapping on the constitution for the last 8 years at least. As i’ve said before, the only difference between the “two” parties is the targets, or rather first targets.

The democrats go after the “right” supporters and the republicans go after the “left” supporters. They both stuff their pockets and crap on all they take oaths to defend.

You seen any bills introduced to repeal the patriot act yet? How about warrantless wiretapping? hell no, because now THEY get to use them again.

Since we’ve been given a little more time, hammer away while we can.

  4. Kay Bailey Hutchinson was on MSNBC yesterday when the news of the hold broke, and she flat out said that her objection to Holder included his antipathy towards the 2A.

There’s at least one person concerned about the Constitution.

  5. I believe a FISA court has held that the warrantless tapping of calls from the US to foreign telephone numbes associated with known terrorists (and this is trampling your rights how?) was legal. Maybe that infringed on the privacy rights (where’s that in the Constitution, again?) of some US citizens of Pakistani or Arab origin, but it bothered me not at all. The marxists want to take away our 2nd amendment rights. That affects all Americans and makes us subject to the will of the government.
