VCDL Needs To Get Their Game On

Protest Easy Guns (what exactly is an “easy gun” anyway?) is planning to descend on Richmond to lobby for bills to outlaw private sales.  They plan on protesting in groups of 32, to symbolize Virginia Tech victims, who were killed by a deranged lunatic who did not get his firearms through private sales.  I don’t get the logic either, but then again, this is a gun control group we’re talking about.

  1. They should have to remove their shoes before entering. They’re bound to be messy from dancing in the blood of the dead defenseless, made so by the policies they advocate.

  2. I saw an article today which mentioned that the committee basically killed the gun show loophole bill.

I’ll have more coverage up tomorrow.

  3. We were there. We had them outnumbered by around two or three to one.

And we didn’t have to bus anyone in…we all got there 0n our own.

    Post on it coming soon.

Unfortunately, you’d never know it from the news coverage here.

  5. I was there, too, with Margie, Jenn, and my sister-in-law. I looked around for Curt but there were too many of us to pick him out. Easily 300 out at the protest, though I am no crowd estimator. I tried to more or less count blocks of 25. There were groups wearing orange “Guns Save Lives” stickers on every floor of the General Assembly building. The organizers were completely unable to determine a head count.

The early media reports are very much playing down our involvement but we had them swamped. I witnessed no tension other than some of the anti’s trying to block the signs we had taped to our backs (the MMM had obtained a permit for their protest, we had not, so we kept interaction minimal.)

Ahab, the bills introduced in the House were indeed defeated but Kaine (Demo-rat) had put all his eggs in the bill being pushed through the Senate. That was being heard this morning at public hearing.

Damn! Good show. I wish we could do that in Pennsylvania.

    Hopefully the politicians noticed.

  7. the post is up.

I looked for Clint all day and I just never spotted him. There were just too many people with “Guns Save Lives” buttons and stickers to pick him out from the crowd.

One illustration of how many people were there: they had (I believe) eight elevators in the building. They were virtually useless all day. Every time one would hit a floor and the doors open, it was already packed so full there was no more room. I just gave up after awhile and started using the stairs. It’s a 9 floor building so I got in some good exercise yesterday.
