“Assault Weapons” in our hands …

… but put them in the hands of government officials, they suddenly become “personal defense weapons.” that are “suitable for personal defense use in close quarters.” Additionally, Feinstein’s gun ban exempts any government official. Remember folks, the laws, they are for the little people. Know your place, serf!

  1. holding my breath, waiting for Biden’s Secret Service detail to switch over to double-barreled shotguns.

    not…

    1. If he did I would at least respect him for walking the walk, so to speak. He’d still be wrong but I’d respect him a little bit then.

  2. As I note at David Hardy’s blog, they are correctly using the Personal Defense Weapons words of art. Like the fairly well known FN P-90 which is slightly shorter than the 20 inch max operable length of ones that will satisfy this solicitation. Which echoing Richard are well known for being used by the Secret Service, they got FN to make ones with black reticules since the standard white ones were designed for the field, not urban jungles.

They aren’t even technically “assault weapons” since they’re select fire … but I’m happy to call them such.

  3. This is a very powerful document, and I expect it to be brought up in court one of these days. Stuff like this is *very* persuasive, even to anti-gun judges.

    1. Agree with Nathaniel — this is 2A legal gold. Here we have a DHS statement of work explicitly listing a requirement for weapons with selective fire capability (including full auto), and simultaneously declaring them “suitable for personal defense”.
