  1. They have so little else to celebrate…it’s like Rome as the northern hordes drew closer. The politicians of the time could do very little so ceremony became more important than substance. Shakespeare caught the essence of it in the title of his play, “Much Ado About Nothing”. Cahill’s “How The Irish Saved Civilization” provides a great picture of Rome then.
