The left overuses this term, but this eight grade girl from Detroit really gets it. She’s talking to Monica Conyers, wife of Congressman John Conyers:

How I wish I were disgustingly rich, because I would offer that girl a free ride to wherever she wanted to go. Not only did she challenge Mrs. Conyers with poise, she didn’t hold back. Pretty clearly an incident like this should be the end of Monica Conyer’s career, but this is Detroit. If there were 1000 more little eighth grade girls like this, it would give me great optimism about the future.

That woman has no shame whatsoever. Manipulative, immature, and wheedling. That 13-year-old had more self-control in dealing with the situation than I’ve seen in probably 90% of the adults I’ve dealt with in a professional capacity. It doesn’t matter how “frustrated” you are, it doesn’t give you any “right” to act like a dumbass.
The unfortunate fact is that that little girl will probably be shot down time and time again by “adults” who don’t want their authority questioned. Let’s hope she keeps her spirit up.
I love the part where she says “I’m not going to be combative with you” after she’s been combative for the past 3 minutes.
Conyers almost got away with turning the question away by accusing the young girl of Conyers own bad behavior. What a cheap political trick to use on a kid.
