Posting might be kind of light around this holiday and on into the weekend. I’m taking Thursday and Friday off, and will be spending it in Virginia.  Work is letting out early today, but I have a flurry of things I need to do before I go.  Getting vacation is painful for me, because there’s really isn’t anyone else in the company that can do my job.

Not to put too big a damper on your holiday, but the “indespensible man” often becomes a target of envy and corporate foul play. It isn’t your fault, but be damn sure you never say it at work. Let others say it, if they must, but don’t you say it, just continue to shine and move up.
Take that to the bank, from someone who always outperformed the others and was consistently punished for it.
Are you planning to hit the Folklife Festival?
We hit that last weekend. Kind of crowded. The Northern Ireland section didn’t have a booth on how to wire a detonator. I was disappointed.
As fate would have it, I just finished re-reading Patriot Games, too. (An interesting book, but the premise Mr. Clancy used to generate the title was … off. I’ve listened to the song, and it’s a bloody lament).
