Ed Stack on CBS Sunday Morning

Be sure to watch Ed Stack’s, CEO of Dick’s Sporting Goods, appearance on CBS Sunday Morning.

I love that he goes to the: “But if we do these things and it saves one life, don’t you think it’s worth it?” That’s such a vacuous argument, and after all these years I’m sick of hearing it. It’s a refuge of people who don’t really have an argument and instead want to resort to emotional blackmail.

John Richardson notes that CBS at least used the correct language.

  1. I used to watch that show regularly, even with the libtard slant of all their stories. For a couple of months this past summer, DISH Network was at odds with the Meredith Broadcasting Corp, which carries my local CBS affiliate. As usual when negotiations break down, the stations are off the air for subscribers. After it being gone so long, I saw the beginning of this past Sunday’s show and decided to go out and do yard work instead. Apparently after not watching it for so long, my tolerance level for the show has gone to ZERO! It is all libtard politics, entertainment, art, Hollywood celebrities, etc. Garbage I have absolutely no interest in.

  2. The line I thought was hilarious was when she said “it’s un-American to try to make corporate policy public policy.” I guess she never heard of “corporate lobbyists” or Citizens United?

  3. It wasn’t a bad segment. It was good to hear from Stack directly. He’s deep in the stupid though.

  4. “He’s deep in the stupid though.”

My guess is, he’s deep into the long-term self-interest. He could very well be wrong, but my guess is he’s trying to brand Dick’s as something that will appeal to the accoutrements-obsessed, Green Weekend Warrior.

(Not that there’s anything wrong with that, except they are rarely on the gun owners’ side.)

  5. Now there’s a man who is intent on burying Dicks…

Wow… Geriatric hour on CBS FTW.

Sebastian- I notice a hint of silver lining in your posts of recent, but I know it won’t last. There will be a sad topic posted tomorrow… or the next day… or the next day… or the next… or someone will pull the pin on a grenade at your gun club or something and you will get called in to assist with the PR effort (and cleanup)… Just don’t get too happy whatever you do.

    G’day.
