Not Dead

Traveling for work, and my job is kind of up in the air right now because the company is having struggles. Also, lots of goings on at my club, and not all good. Then there’s the political mess we currently find ourselves in. Not going to lie, I am pretty demoralized right now and have little energy for blogging. But will return soon.

  1. When I first found this blog in 2012 it was a source of encouragement. Instead you now use it as a tool to project some odd depression thing going on. Perhaps an indication it’s time to hang it up? It’s no longer a source of much of anything useful that is gun-related.

It’s been pretty boring here with all the wins on gun rights we’ve had since then anyway.

    Best of luck homeslice.

    1. I have already pretty much hung it up. I have very little desire to blog these days. I’ve been making it a point to get offline, and I’m actually happier for it. But this has been a bad couple of weeks, and not, unfortunately, something I’m going to blog about.

    2. Oh he’s been a pessimist for years and years. That’s just the way he rolls. A natural Eeyore tendency, plus negative unrelated outside stimulus and you gotta expect this. He’ll be better when he gets through to the other side, I bet.

        1. Hey, buddy, pay no attention to the clowns. I’m hoping things improve for you soon.

          I consider you the best.

  2. Look on the bright side. At least you don’t live in Commiefornia!

Chin up. No matter how dark things look now, I’m convinced long term we will win.

Remember how bad things looked on, say, September 13th 1994? Now those were dark days!

I remember the pessimism that clung to the gun-rights movement after 1994. All the doomsayers who said the 1994 AW ban would be made permanent and not allowed to sunset. All the doomsayers who said we would lose the DC v Heller case, and see the 2nd Amendment nullified.

Even back then (after the 1994 election) I was optimistic about those issues.

We are so much stronger today than back then. Today we stand on much stronger ground than back then.

Yes, we will suffer temporary or localized setbacks. But ultimately we will win. Everywhere and for everyone. We will win.

Good luck, and take care of yourself. I look forward to your content.

  3. I recall when in the 70’s gun rights were on the decline I recall the assault weapon ban. Since then the news has been good Get a little perspective.

  4. This is a blog that I kept up There is a lot of news on the gun rights front Some bad , some good

    1. Yeah… I’m not saying it’s all bad news. But the overall cultural trends are not good. Bloomberg’s money is having a very serious impact.

      1. Then we need to get good at beating him, and start beating him with the purpose to extinguish rather than stall. Bloomberg is simply the Wermacht that seems invincible from early wins against unprepared, less determined opposition. Every insurmountable, impossible enemy, disease, and task in history has been beaten with determination, creativity, and persistence. How bad did it look going up against the Japanese navy after Pearl Harbor? How invincible did Napoleon look? Did people ever think we were going to beat polio, malaria and yellow fever, and smallpox? How many attempts did it take for Edison to make the lightbulb? Or for the Panama Canal to get built?

Bloomberg, Soros, NYC, etc. need to stop being an excuse and instead an obstacle to be attacked, beaten, and stomped into dust. How? Who cares, do it. Do what makes him stop. There is something, some cost or loss or penalty to be imposed or inflicted which is unacceptable to them to continue at risk of or cost of incurring. Figure it out and do it. Do it because it has to be done.

        1. I’m not saying Bloomberg is unbeatable. But it’s going to take a lot more seriousness than I’m seeing from gun rights people, and it’s going to take our leaders being focused and capable. Right now our leaders are a mess. NRA is a mess. And it’s going to take more than talking about this shit on blogs to fix that.

        2. I’m of the firm belief that Bloomberg is a complete boogeyman. His money has not changed the gun control landscape one iota. All the losses would have happened without him.

We need to stop focusing on him and more on the culture and get better candidates, as well as better leaders in gun groups.

  5. Is your club about to close shop? I really hope it isn’t over political dysfunction and some members throwing in the towel.

It’s rough out here in Ohio putting up the political BS and feeling like surrender is the only option. My friends and family are still hanging in there with the grassroots activism.

Honestly, the more s*** that Bloomberg and his Pigs throw at me, the more ‘game’ I am to keep up the push-back.

      1. Ok. Hope all is well with you otherwise, and I definitely understand better for you now.

‘Nagging’ problems are the worst. They just drain you of patience.

  6. Glad you are not dead. That’s an understatement! But I did suspect that the brain drain might be contagious.
