Hogg House Swatted

Hogg House Swatted?

There’s a lot of bloggers on the right noting that Hogg’s reaction is odd. I wouldn’t go so far as saying it was staged, but I’ll agree that it smells fishy, much like everything else in Broward County.

The Hoggs weren’t home, but in DC. I don’t support doing something like this to anyone, even though I strongly disagree with Hogg about gun control, and find him distasteful as a person. SWATing is just short of attempted murder, if you ask me.

In other news, isn’t his dad a retired FBI agent? Didn’t his mom work for the school district? That’s a pretty swank house for government workers.

  1. Until the guns are pointed AT them, a lot of people really think SWATting is a “harmless prank.” After all, aren’t SWAT cops the Most Professional People EVAR?

He wasn’t home, and his pets weren’t killed and his family wasn’t flashbanged, teargassed, or burnt out of their homes.

(Also, propagating CopFear sends a mixed message about “Nobody But the Cops Should Have Guns.”)

If you ask me, using phrases like “retired FBI agent” and “works for the school district” are intentionally vague, and in this context used to downplay their actual positions and incomes. We’re expected to equate them to “retired cop” and “elementary teacher”, but that’s not necessarily the case.

For example, last I checked a first-year FBI agent’s base pay is $45k/year, but they can earn between $65k and $74k, depending on locality and availability. But exactly what kind of FBI agent was Dad, if he was with the agency long enough to retire? Supervisory Special Agent ($130k+)? ASAC ($150k+)? Regional office director? Those are not small-potatoes jobs, but are still “FBI agents”.

Similarly for Mom, what was her specific position in the school district? According to Ballotpedia, the last Broward superintendent made a $290k salary in 2009-2010, with total compensation over $367k. District admins would make less, but still … also not small-potatoes.

In short, “retired FBI agent” and “works for the school district” sound like low-income public-service jobs, but in reality could be anything but. The Hoggs can live very comfortably off those incomes, even in swanky South Florida.

All in all, until/unless I hear otherwise, to me David Hogg is just another spoiled bratty punk from a moneyed family, complete with an attitude problem and a potty mouth. He’s cashing in on a claimed “victim/survivor” status, and likely won’t ever have to work a day in his miserable life.

In that, he’s just like every other public face of “gun control”.

Exactly. Rich, Powerful people (with guns! of course)who have the goal of disarming the Poor and the Powerless.

    1. House Hogg, makes me think of Game Of Thrones.

I laughed the first time I read someone call David “Camera Hogg”. I’ve also seen “Boss Hogg”. The one I made up is David Demagogue Hogg.

When I saw the TV news camera footage of the freakin mansion the Hoggs live in, much about David Hogg and Broward County became a lot clearer to me.

  3. “There’s a lot of bloggers on the right noting that Hogg’s reaction is odd.”

    I don’t think it’s odd.

First I want to make clear that I’m only speaking to tactics, and don’t want to imply sympathy for Hogg’s position.

I think Hogg has been exposed to enough flak that he’s not going to be shaken by something like this. Plus, he heard about it from a distance. He didn’t experience it.

Whatever the issues in question, we make a mistake when we think our opponents are incapable of, for example, keeping their focus on the situation at hand, and assume that only people in our own camp are capable of displaying character or fortitude under fire.

That was the assumption that lost the Vietnam War for us.

(And please, no “stabbed in the back at Versailles” digressions.) :-)

  4. Perhaps if a few more of them experienced the terror of having armed men invade your home for no reason, they might grasp why gun owners aren’t too fond of their confiscation fantasies.

But that’s probably asking too much of them. Either way, we should be putting this forward as a teachable moment – “David Hogg wants to bring the injustice of “SWATTing” to doorsteps of innocent people”.

  5. I just checked the release date for his book. June 5. The very same day…. is it too tinfoil hatty to say that’s quite a coincidence?

  6. Lefties have no problem with government guns because they need them to hunt down and disarm private gun owners. Hogg has no problem with SWAT teams hitting private houses, and wants that to become routine. It’s understandable that he would dismiss it as no big deal, because he wants to normalize it. He’s scary like that.

  7. IMHO, Hogg is a sociopath who is channeling his desire to seriously hurt people into a socially acceptable way to do it, that is, via forcing gun control laws on people. As he has made plain, he wants to ram those laws down other people’s throats, against their will, and revel in their revulsion. There is an enormous amount of hatred in that boy. He is evil like that.

As contrasted to the people who want to build a wall, burn mosques, and put little kids in cages for what their parents did?

Sorry, but there’s just a lot of that going around these days, and everyone has their own justifications.

      1. build a wall, burn mosques, and put little kids in cages for what their parents did?

One of these things is not like the other. Building a wall has a huge number of supporters; I’ve never seen anyone supporting the other two.

  8. In other news, isn’t his dad a retired FBI agent? Didn’t his mom work for the school district? That’s a pretty swank house for government workers.

make your way down to Montgomery County, Maryland. Or Howard, or Prince Georges. Also, Louden Co Virginia, Fairfax,, or Arlington. You will find most government employees live much better than you, in houses that start at $650,000 and up. Your tax dollars at work. And its pretty disgusting. Its no wonder they all vote for redistribution to the little people in Baltimore and vote to disarm the population. If I lived like that I would not want an armed hungry mob discovering how I lived either.

    1. It’s good to be .gov/.k12 in the MarVa region for sure. But it’s also a higher cost of living, so a $650k house would be $300k around here, too.

    2. i don’t know, i’ve made my way to every county in question and i don’t think i’d say “most government employees live much better than you, in houses that start at $650,000 and up.”
