  1. AKA PA border states. Great. We’re going to be the Switzerland for gun owners pretty soon. Not that there’s anything wrong with that!

    1. There is something wrong with that. They’ll come here, and then start complaining that they don’t have all those wonderful services they had in their commie states, and vote those nice, generous liberal politicians into office. And then when those generous (with other peoples’ money) politicians start banning guns, the transplants/cancer will move on to another host and destroy it as well.

      1. That is a very real frustrating thing we may encounter, mike. However, I think the existence of PA as a whole in this climate sort of shows how the Blue/Red mix can work positively. Philly pols can only get so far in Harrisburg simply because of the fact that they are, well, a small but populous portion of the state, and gun control is of the issues they can’t succeed with because of the pro-gun Dems and the mainstream pro-gun Republicans that offer a counter-weight.

Frankly, though, I think the gun control issue is one of the last issues the blue dogs have any semblance of credibility on, and they’re losing it fast based on my view of the Manchin dilemma. They totally lost most of it with the passage of the ACA federally as far as I’m concerned. I hold out hope for PA blue dogs, though.

  2. I believe we should save our energy and resources for the fight at the federal level. Flood the republicans in the house with letters, phone calls, emails etc. Make sure they know what we expect. Same for the handful of “blue dogs” left in the house. The states u mention are all deep blue and most likely agree with the restrictions. That would be my assumption, have not seen any polls on that but they did elect democrats.

    1. I may be wrong, but I believe state law succeeds federal law. So lawful gun owners in these states would still be screwed over.

  3. The federal District Court in Baltimore struck down Maryland’s may-issue carry permit scheme as unconstitutional. The state is appealing, and the politicians are acting as if they believe they will win the appeal. The Maryland Court of Appeals (the state’s highest court) has ruled that the Second Amendment does not apply outside one’s home or place of business in Maryland.

My best guess about the near future is that the legislature will pass fairly draconian restrictions and that the bill will be petitioned to referendum. Turnout on the Eastern Shore and Western Maryland will be critical.

We’ll see what the 4th Circuit does with the state’s appeal of the carry permit decision and whether or not the case makes it to the Supremes.

The next couple of years could be very rough here in the Democratic People’s Republic of Maryland.

  4. I’ve been writing every member of the Delaware General Assembly. Markell and his gang of petty tyrants are trying to make Delaware like Maryland!

    1. I think if they only succeed in making Delaware like Maryland, you will be very lucky. But keep at the state politicians. Your federal guys, as you mentioned, have heard from you. Nothing you can do beyond that to persuade them.
