The Unreliable 100 Round Drum Magazine

A Jennifer pointed out, it actually saved lives. If he had stuck to the standard 20 and 30 round magazines, a lot more people would have likely been killed. We keep telling our opponents that magazine capacity is not the end-all-be-all of lethality, and that many factors play into it. Something they don’t seem to want to accept.

After Tucson I thought we would never see another example of extended capacity magazine jamming and actually saving lives (just because of the low frequency of these shootings)- and here we have one again. I am sure they won’t even acknowledge it, just as they did last time (though in this case the jam is more prevalent in the media).

Yet there will be a fight over banning such magazines, probably starting around November 07 if Obama wins again, and maybe even if Romney wins. And pro-rights people will have to spend time, money and effort that could better be spent on real issues defending against such stupidity once again.

Thankfully the jackals of the anti-gun crowd are fewer in number and less well funded now than in prior decades. Their nipping at the heels of pro-rights folk is still annoying.

Obama is too smart to mess with the gun issue. So is congress. There will be some blather that will make a few sound bites, then it will fade away.
On the other hand, I’m beginning to suspect that there is some new phenomenon showing. Incidents like Aurora, as well as road rage and other similar things make me wonder if there is a mental health problem to be looked for.

What does it matter to him after the election?

“This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility.”

So I guess it’s also a good thing he used the guns in the theater, instead of the IEDs he cooked up for his apartment. Instead of gas, he may have tossed in a couple of homemade claymores. But that wouldn’t have made him the focus of survivors attention.
Also a good thing he was not as much about killing people as he was about, how did Rahs Al Ghul put it? “Theatricality”

Thankfully the 100 round Beta mag jammed, possibly saving lives. Had Holmes used 30 rounders, the death toll could have been much higher.
