A John Kerry Moment?

Everyone remembers these imagine from the 2004 election that some say ruined Kerry’s shot at the presidency.  Looks like Obama is looking for his John Kerry moment now.  And really, we were harder on Kerry than we should be have been, because Kerry actually was a hunter and a gun owner, he was just a gun owner and bird hunter who supports gun control.  I doubt Obama has spent much time fishing, and I’d be surprised if he knew what to do with a fish if he caught it.  This should prove to be awkward.

  1. Reminds me of Putin’s recent ‘adventures’ in the woods.

Funny thing is that in the middle of all the cameras, he might even like it. That’s a plus.

Find a Democrat who does Sporting Clays. Or, hell, I’ll take him.

  2. What part of Obama’s background leads you to believe that he’s never been fishing?

    1. The head of the IL DNR also said during the campaign that every time they did a fishing event for kids in his district (as a State Senator), he refused to attend or do anything to support it.

  3. From his statement to sportsmen:

“Barack Obama did not grow up hunting and fishing, but he recognizes the great conservation legacy of America’s hunters and anglers and has great respect for the passion that hunters and anglers have for their sport.”

  4. Elsewhere I’ve read that the press won’t be invited; if the White House doesn’t provide any pictures I wonder if there will be any impact.

  5. Well, we already know that Obama doesn’t know how to throw a baseball properly, so I really doubt that his handlers will want to give us a chance to see how clueless he is about fishing.

  6. My first thought was that Yellowstone was for the kids to see the wonders of the park.
My snarky thought was that he going to pull a Putin, bare chested and manly looking.

  7. Maybe Cheney should invite him to a bird shoot. That woudl be funny. Secret service protecting Obama from Cheney and Secret Service protecting Cheney from Obama.
