Toomey is Out

Pat Toomey says he won’t run against Specter in the GOP primary, so who will run against him?  Toomey almost unseated Specter in the 2004 primary, but fell short because Bush and Santorum pulled Specter’s candidacy out of the fire because it was believed Toomey would not defeat Joe Hoeffel.

If historical trends hold, 2010 should be a good year for the GOP.  I feel more comfortable knee capping specter in 2010 than I did in 2004, and I still would have preferred to do it in 2006.  But who is going to run?  I’m looking for a horse to bet on.

UPDATE: A reader pointed out it was the 2004 election.

  1. How sad. I hoped that Toomey would do us a favor and remove Specter from office, especially after Specter voted for the porkapalooza bill. I have lost all faith in Specter and will never vote for him again in any election.

Here’s to Toomey’s chances for Harrisburg, at least.

  2. I appreciate the vote of confidence, but hell no. Being a politician is about as respectable as prostitution. But at least with prostitution, it’s an equitable exchange.

…. and that is why we end up with dirt bags like Specter in PA and Cagle in Georgia. Politics is sleazy, the system is setup to discourage good people from running, and is too expensive because of all of the restrictions enacted such as McCain Feingold.

I know of at least 10 people who would make excellent office holders. None will do it because of the pain and expense of the process. THey aren’t afraid to lose, they are good people with family responsibilites.

  4. +1 to what Mike123 said.

Well, not about YOU running, but about the system in general.

I guess you folks in PA had better find someone to send money to ASAP. Please find someone from outside the puppe tshow that is politics.

  5. Does anyone know if Lynn Swann is still active or interested in PA politics?
I remember seeing him on TV and knew he was a Republican, but is he a Conservative?
If he is still involved/interested in politics is he looking toward senator or governor?
Pat Toomey is apparently not interested in the senate position and is looking to replace Fast Eddie as governor here in PA.
If anyone has any ideas about a replacement for the traitor Arlen Specter, lets get them out here so they can be seen and discussed. The earlier we can find a suitable replacement the earlier we can get the groundwork and fundraising and such started.
I have also asked this question at (I have the same screen name there) so if anyone has any info about Mr. Swann (or other prospective candidates) please let me know.
