Eric Holder was Clinton’s, and Reno’s, Deputy Attorney General from 1997 on. So, after Waco and the Ruby Ridge aftermath, but in fact involved in the Elian Gonzalez fiasco.

Magic Eight Ball is not optimistic. The only “lesson learned” that the justice department has ever given any public indication of is that these situations are best avoided because they are bad for public relations, despite the .gov clearly being in the right. Hopefully Holder has learned that lesson, if nothing else.

But I would note that it doesn’t appear Janet Reno did much housecleaning to get rid of the people who concocted the unlawful rules of engagement.

More likely she made them SOP. Waco rules are coming back…if they ever left.

Indeed it did. But just to make everyone feel better, the decision not to prosecute Lon Horiuchi happened under Clinton. That decision was made by one Deval Patrick, now Governor of Massachusetts. And, according to the inside talk, President-elect Obama’s #1 choice for the next US Supreme Court vacancy.
