The Scarlet Letter

Apparently armed robbers are in the tank for Obama too:

Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Diane Richard tells Channel 4 Action News that the victim was robbed at knifepoint on Wednesday night outside of a Citizens Bank near Liberty Avenue and Pearl Street just before 9 p.m.

Richard said the robber took $60 from the woman, then became angry when he saw a McCain bumper sticker on the victim’s car. The attacker then punched and kicked the victim, before using the knife to scratch the letter “B” into her face, Richard said.

I guess this guy misheard the campaign’s slogan as “Gimma all the change you’ve got so I can believe in it!”  My car sticker says “Sportsmen for McCain” on it, which hopefully would be enough to allow Mr. Scarlet Letter give to realize that his intended victim will respond with 9mm “O”s to any attempt to carve a “B”.

UPDATE: Upon further questioning, it appears there’s a lot to be skeptical of here.

UPDATE: Yep, it’s a hoax.  Man, what an attention whoring tool this chick is.  She’s facing charges.  Good.

  1. I am confused–the “B” is backwards. unless he held her upside down or possibly maybe it was done by looking in a mirror/ Just wondering.

  2. scott, even so, its pretty hard core to give yourself two black eyes…

aside, the jury is still out on this one being legit.

  3. Not the black eyes–That is true I would say because of a robbery. It just struck me as odd when I first saw the picture of the “B”.

  4. Sebastian, 0.45″ “O’s” are more noticeable.

pdb … your comment is brilliant!

  5. Carl:

Yeah… at some point I plan on upgrading from the eruopellet. But 9mm is always cheaper than .45, so I tend to practice more with 9mm.

  6. Did she take the picture of herself in the mirror? I heard that the picture provided was taken by herself. I know that alot of kids these days take their pics using a mirror.

Still, not sure we will ever achieve certainty on this.

    Change we can believe in!

  7. this one is REALLY smelly. The carved B is very superficial, and perfectly formed, aside from being backwards. She would have had to stand awfully still for him to do that. Her black eye also has absolutely no swelling, which is pretty unusual. And she refused medical attention.

Michelle Malkin doesn’t believe it, and neither do the Pittsburgh Police. They’ve stated her story has “inconsistencies.”

  8. I’m going to leave this to the professionals. Often victims of violent crime have inconsistencies in their story because their recollection is confused. I bet that experienced criminal investigators can spot these types of inconsistencies as opposed to the kind when you are lying and thinking on your feet in an attempt to adapt your lie to the facts as they surface.

  9. She may have been mugged, but the “B” is backwards, and on her own right cheek. This strongly suggests that she did it to herself using a mirror. Lefties (not leftists) are rare, and so it’s likely that if the mugger did it, it would be on her left cheek. It also looks like it’s just a red mark, like you get when you scratch an itch. Seems like it would be a serious cut that would scar, if the mugger did it. After all, the mugger DID have a knife.

  10. The B was a superficial mark and if done in a hurry would have some deeper gouges than other and that B was the same for the entire B. The backward bit I thought but it couls have been done if the attacker was doing it from position behind her.

As to black eye. The swelling does not go black for a while. First the eye wells and then has purple and greemn colors. Some experience there. So I doubted this.

Many of these victim hoaxes are women and though this is the first Republican case I heard about, usually it is the liberal victim groups that have tried this type of stunt.

When you get a story of these weird stuff the 24-48 hr rule is a good idea, to see if there is any truth.
