I can just imagine them trying those tactics in some place like Texas; they’d probably end up going to California or Massachusetts where there are more unarmed targets.

Robb,

You bring up a good point if you are talking about our overall leadership response where the American people were basically told: Go shopping to keep the economy going, we’ll handle the rest.

However on a individual level, 9-11 and to a smaller extent Katrina was a turning point that had a major impact on how the common man feels about the government. This is where I disagree with you. I would assert that United Flight 93 was the turning point of a dark slide into… I don’t know what, but it was bad.

How many people learned about the triumph of good over evil from Flight 93? How many went out and bought guns? How many saw the futility of relying on an incompetent government for their protection? How many people realized things have gotten pretty bad, and that real American’s just don’t roll over and die lightly?

I don’t have an answer to those questions, but I am willing to say it’s a significant number. Micro attacks throughout the country would have the exact opposite strategic effect from their intention. This is a very large country with significant land mass. On a personal level people will turn to protecting their own, and in almost every case be better off for taking control over their own lives.

Now if that would be a good strategy if one was talking about England. There, the common man is fooked.

Well, it sure appears making life better is not their approach to winning hearts and minds…

Smaller attacks are easier to undertake, and there are fewer ways to fight back except to be prepared for it, which sometimes your own government (take the UK as an extreme example) prohibits by law. Much harder for a police forece to deal with.

People made into sheeple will do about anything to retain a little safety and live just another day. Ownership of the streets then transfers to the thugs and terrorists. The police can drive through (maybe), but there is little confusion who runs the place. It is little different from certain gang enclaves in Los Angeles. You have no rights except what the thugs allow you this day.

This is the heart of the 2nd Amendment, to enable free people to stand against tyranny writ small or large.
