   So, the original pistol (the one used for the show) was mocked up around a fully functional Taurus .38 Special revolver. The wheelgun inside Mal’s gun would still fire, and was often loaded with blanks for stunt scenes.

   You can also mock up a passable fake from a ’58 Remington, I’m actually working on a kit that turns a ’58 Remy into a single shot look a like.
