I totally dig the concept of a Personal Defense Weapon (PDW) in .17HMR.  I’d buy one! How hard is it to get a SOT for making SBRs? Maybe things would go easier with the budget committee if the gun hobby were bringing in money :)

No large mag capacity, but very portable.
Actually, what I’m thinking was something more along the lines of a 10/22 in .17 HMR with a 7-10 inch barrel, folding stock and 20 round magazine.
I’ve already found part of my new toy.
That could work with the right case. Of course, a stock is largely a waste of space. Staying true to the PDW concept, you’d really probably want some kind of bullpup configuration. Someone with some photoshop skills should come up with a prototype :)
Sounds like a cool idea, but according to my 10/22’s manual, the Magnums (or at least the .22 Magnum) are supposed to be cleaned every fifty rounds. O_o
Well, the 10/22 was just sort of the concept ride because you can find almost any accessory known to man for it, including stocks.
Despite their almost total uselessness, bullpups are really, really cool and a .17 HMR semi-auto bullpup makes me happy for some reason.
